Edie Exits St-Eustache CSBK Round Early

One of the big, positive stories of the early part of the 2016 Mopar CSBK Superbike National season is the performance of Bodhi Edie of Warman, SK.  The 20-year-old has staged a comeback after missing two seasons of National racing, showing well on the “KR yellow” Trip-Dub Racing/Z1 Tuning Yamaha YZF-R1M.

At the opening event at Shannonville Motorsport Park at the end of May, Edie ran in the top five, with the leaders, until he suffered a minor fall in the last turn late in the Feature race.  Edie remounted to earn a solid ninth, an encouraging result for the new rider-team combination.

At round two at Autodrome St-Eustache near Montreal, QC, this weekend, Edie was on the pace from the outset aboard his Parts Canada/HJC/Birkett Freight Solutions/Dunlop backed 1000cc Yamaha.  Series front runner Jordan Szoke set his class best Superbike time on Friday in company with Edie, and much was expected from the western star.

Unfortunately, Edie suffered a tumble late in Dalton Timmis Insurance SuperPole Qualifying, bringing the session to a halt with the red flag.  Edie lost control of his machine entering the stock car oval section of the 1.93km venue, and then slid across the run off area as his bike tumbled after hitting a curb.

The R-1 suffered substantial damage to the fuel tank, air-box, fuel injection system and sub frame, and unfortunately the team do not have the extensive spares required to fix their Yamaha and return to action at the Autodrome.

The Manitoba-based effort will regroup in time for the next Doubleheader at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Nova Scotia, July 16-17, but today’s front runners all commented on the disappointing disappearance of Edie from the weekend’s Feature class activity.
