In 1987, the works Suzuki Canada program was on top of the Canadian road racing scene, with Michel Mercier sporting his number one plate from overall success in the 1986 season. Sunoco was the major sponsor, and George Morin continued to run the team with Mike Crompton doing the building and tuning.
