Round 1 Report: Jared Walker - Ninja 300 Series

It was going to be a scorcher. A track day followed by 3 races on my new Tnemec sponsored Kawasaki Ninja 300. I knew besides the weather being hot, the competition was going to be hot. It was going to be an awesome weekend.

As Friday morning came around the excitement and nerves settled in for the first round of Mopar CSBK and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th races of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 Spec Series at Shannonville Motorsport Park. The second race of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 class started off well - I was second off the line and followed Eric Quintin into the first corner. After a quick start to the race I had accomplished my goal to start well and stay within sight of Eric. On lap 2, I made my pass into the first corner, took the lead and soon started to create some lengths on the fast Quebec rider. A long hot 8 laps later I was able to cross the line in first, taking my first ever win with a gap of 3.5seconds.

Saturday came and with the changes to suspension made by Riders Choice, I felt much more comfortable and continued to drop more time throughout Saturday's qualifying, earning pole position. Another first!

Eric was fast again off the line, but I was able to capture 2nd and make a fast pass to take the lead. Then on the 5th lap - the unthinkable happened - with a 5 second lead, i tucked the front end on the second last corner. In shock and pain, I was unable to restart the bike. But with encouragement from Don Empey and the Marshalls I got restarted and completed another lap but was unable to score any points.

After a few repairs on my Hotbodies Racing bodywork and Parts from SnowCity (plus some ice for me), I was ready for Sunday. with a disappointing finish to Saturday, I had one thing on my mind - Finish the race. With a bad start and 3rd place into the first corner. I slowly made my way into first place having a great race with Eric and Branden and maintained my lead till the end.

After some highs and lows, I look ahead to St-Eustache to try and keep the momentum going and claw back some points.

A huge thanks to everyone who has made this possible; Riders Choice, SnowCity, Tnemec, Bickle Racing, Hotbodies Racing, Hindle Exhaust, Road Racing Stars of Tomorrow, UPS Upper Oakville, Speedproburloak and all the family and friends for their support and help.
