Team News: Szoke completes successful pre-season test

Mopar Express Lane BMW Motorrad Superbike Team Completes a Successful Test

Mopar Express Lane BMW Motorrad Canada Superbike Team had two full days of testing at Grand Bend Motorplex under sunny skies and beauty temperatures.

Choosing the Grand Bend facility as testing grounds for the season Szoke says, “This is a great place to shake things down a little and put some laps in. The weather was perfect, and the entire staff and crew at Grand Bend are so awesome and helpful. We had the run of the place so it makes for an easy relaxing atmosphere to really get down to business.”

Defending Mopar CSBK Superbike Champion Jordan Szoke came very close to unofficially breaking his pole position record from last season.

“We were able to test the new Dunlop rears and found that durability was much better. We hold the record here at Grand Bend at a 1:03.200 and were able to inch close to that on day two with a 1:03.254.” Szoke has his sights set on a 13th National Superbike Title in 2018.

Szoke’s new teammate Amy Szoke notched up some very valuable seat time on her superbike. She ran two full National seasons in the Amateur 600 class in 2009 and 2010, and another in the lightweight class in 2017. 2018 will be very first time contesting the 1000cc BMW S1000RR in the Magneti Marelli Amateur Superbike Class.

“I took the two day crash course (pun unintended) in Superbikes.” laughed Amy. “Everything is so much different from what I am used to. The power delivery, the electronics, the speed, it was a lot to grasp and my head hurts a little. Although with the best team in the pits they are here to help me learn as much as I can this year. Pretty lucky aren’t I?”

The 2017 Team of the Year welcomes two new members to the team, Ryan Topp and Ryan Whelan alongside longtime members Matt VanTilborg and Jon Cornwell. The new additions worked seamlessly together promising for a good season.
