Round 1 Report: Mitch Card, Card Racing

What a great start to the 2018 Mopar CSBK race season.  We had some great weather this past weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park and some really close racing.

Friday practice started out well with the Fast Company Yamaha R6 and the R1 showing some impressive speed and lap times in practice.  Superbike practice aboard the R1 was going well but a crash with a slower rider coming off the back straight slowed the pace somewhat until the damages could be completed to the bike and a quick trip to the medical center for a checkup.

Saturday’s Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike qualifying, Mitch chose the Dunlop soft rear tire and was able to put in his personal best at 1:07.3 putting him in 4th position, a front row start.

In Mopar Pro Superbike qualifying aboard the Fast Company R1, Mitch was able to qualify in 8th position at a 1:06.7 and made it into Dalton Timmis Insurance SuperPole. He again backed up his time in SuperPole with a 1:06.9 and starting the Superbike race from the 3rd row.

Sunday race day

In the Pro Sport Bike race Mitch came off the line in 4th after a very slow starting lite and after a hard-fought battle with David MacKay and Sebastien Tremblay but with the speed of the Fast Company R6 was able to come away with a 2nd place finish.

In the Superbike race Mitch was starting to feel the effects of the injured left arm and was struggling with the 190hp R1 around the tight and twisty turns at Shannonville.  After 22 laps and recording his fastest lap on lap 21, Mitch finished with a Top 10 finish.

Mitch would like to thank CSBK, DP brakes, Shoei Helmets, Bickle Racing, Maclyn Dust Control, Goderich Toyota, Mike Moto Racing, Yamaha bLU cRU, Two Wheel Motorsports, Vortex, Bluestreak Racing and Fast Company Suspension and crew who all worked to make this weekend a great success.
