Round 4 Report: Jordan Szoke

Szoke Sweeps the Maritimes

Jordan Szoke waves goodbye to Atlantic Motorsport Park with a suitcase full of hardware during this weekend's Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship.

It didn’t come easy as Mother Nature dealt out varying weather conditions and equipment had a few tricks up its sleeve for the double header action at the affectionately called “roller coaster” circuit Atlantic Motorsport Park.

Big points were up for grabs as there were two races during the weekend on Saturday and Sunday and east coast fans were not disappointed.

Szoke earned the Dalton Timmis SuperPole position on Friday afternoon turning a lap time of 1:07.717 around the 11 corner 2.56 km road course during the top ten SuperPole event.

“The track doesn’t feel as fast as it did last year, but that will probably mean a close, tough race tomorrow, which is great for the fans.”

Szoke powered his Mopar Express Lane BMWS1000RR to a convincing victory during Mopar Pro Superbike race one held on Saturday. Leading virtually the entire race, Szoke goes into Sunday’s event with a 53 point lead.

"We're getting really great starts, but Ben is always right there too. I knew I had the inside line, so I tried to put the pressure on him, but he wouldn't budge and at one point I thought we were both going into the grass," Szoke laughed. "It's really awesome to come out on top because we've all been working really hard. But we're here again tomorrow so hopefully things are a little less stressful."

Szoke nabbed the holeshot when the lights went out on Sunday followed by a pack of four other hungry competitors. By lap six Szoke had lost his lead when Samuel Trepanier managed to make a charge and complete a pass. Szoke regained the lead by lap nine to bring it home for the win.

"Sam pulled off a great pass and I thought maybe he was going to take off, but he made a small mistake there and when you get a chance like that you have to take it," said Szoke. "These guys pushed me 100% to my limit, I didn't slow down at all. They seem to get faster every race, and today it was just awesome."

Szoke has a 58 point lead headed into the ever popular and thrilling Superbike double header at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville ON.
