13 year old Torin Collins of Calgary Alberta qualified in P14 at Silverstone National Circuit at Round 1 of the 2019 British Talent Cup, with the top 15 qualifiers less than a second off the pole position time.
In Race 1 Torin held on to the tail of the leading pack until he mis-shifted into neutral entering corner 5, and then hit 1st instead of 2nd which launched him out of his seat but stayed on the bike losing drive and touch with the leaders.
He settled back into his rhythm and finished in P10.
In Race 2 Collins battled early on, dropping back to P17 at one point due to running off the track braking too late again into corner 5, but worked his way back up to P12.
“I’m super grateful for this huge opportunity I have and hopefully I can improve and keep with the leading pack” said Torin.
Round 2 of the British Talent Cup Round is at Donnington Park National Circuit on 24-26 May.
Torin Collins is eligible to participate in the British Talent Cup as he has dual citizenship in Canada and Britain.
The British Talent Cup is run by Dorna, the organisers of the MotoGP™ World Championship and the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, as well as coorganiser of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
