This past week-end took place the second 2019 MOPAR Canadian Superbike Championship round at Grand Bend Motorplex.
"I’m quite happy with the improvement made to the bike throughout the entire week-end.’’
Saturday saw Coelho qualifying in 8th. “The bike was responding much better at qualifying then it did from Thursday and Friday.’’
When race time came, Alex was ready to try and fight with the other 2 riders that qualified 1 second ahead of him but still on the same 4th row. ‘’I believe that I have the pace to go with those two guys and hopefully get a tow to the leaders.’’
Alex was running 6th and two laps in, saw Alex struggling with grip: ‘’I hate myself for not doing as well as I knew I could. I messed up by choosing the wrong tire compound for the colder and windier day.’’
That pushed Alex back to 9th place, where he would then end in 7th, after a controversial end of race, which saw Dylan Bauer take out Sebastien Tremblay at mid race, bringing out the red flag and putting a stoppage at the race. Both riders would end up on the podium. MCC (Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada) would then turn the officials’ decision and award the win to Tomas Casas, Will Hornblower and David MacKay.
‘’Besides my poor judgement on tire selection, I am truly happy with the major step forward that was made. Looking forward to round three, my home track’’ Says Alex with enthusiasm.
‘’I can’t thank enough Jon Cornwell and Rob Roston for making my bike more rideable… and Francis Turcotte from Turcotte Performance for fiddling more in the bike’s electronics.’’
Alex thanks everyone that is involved in his 2019 season: D.B. Moto, Turcotte Perfomance, TP Distribution and GULF oil, RRRacing, Hindle Exhausts, SHOEI Helmets, Sportbike Track Gear, Drippin’ Wet, Vortex and Muay Thaï Rive-Sud.
Also a honourable mention to the CSBK staff, Pro 6 Cycle for the great sticky service with those Dunlops, Bickle Racing, the fans that always come out to encourage us and the ALL THE MARSHALLS AND MEDICAL STAFF for their amazing work !!!
