Jordan Szoke earned his 44th career superbike victory during the season opener of the Canadian Mopar Superbike Championship held this weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park in Shannonville ON Canada. The veteran from Brantford ON held off the rest of the field by a narrow margin of victory giving him an 11 point lead in the championship.
“A win here feels really good and is a great way to start our season.” Says Szoke from the top of the box. “I really want to send out a special thanks to our new and existing sponsors. Without the new support of Mopar Express Lane and Ram Trucks and the long term relationships we have maintained with Parts Canada and the rest we wouldn’t be here today.”
Szoke started from pole position by setting the fastest lap around Shannonville’s 1.53 mile pro track with a one minute 4.087 during Saturdays qualifying session. This was the fastest lap recorded on non qualifying tires. This was also the first round of the championship since welcoming in the new spec Dunlop tires.
“The Dunlops are working awesome.” Says Szoke. “The transition has been really smooth and I am happy with our results. The support throughout the weekend has been really awesome. I really want to thank Dunlop for stepping in and backing our sport and the riders involved in it. The trackside guidance they have provided has been really amazing.”
When asked what he is doing next he grins, “I have two big MTB bike races in the next two weeks, and I’m going to get out on my brand new dirt bike. I can’t wait to get some training in before Round 2.”
The next round of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship takes place July 4-6 at Autodrome St Eustache in St Eustache Quebec Canada.
