CSBK and Pro 6 GP Race Series Confirm Vintage Classes for July 10-11 Calabogie

The Pro 6 GP Race Series and the Canadian National Superbike Championship, CSBK, have confirmed an exciting opportunity for Period 3, P4, P5 and 250GP bikes to compete at Calabogie Motorsports Park.  The focus of this plan is to offer a replacement for the recently cancelled Vintage Road Racing Association (VRRA) Calabogie round, due to ongoing Pandemic restrictions. 

These vintage race classes will run in conjunction with the combined Calabogie CSBK National opening round/Pro 6 GP Race Series event.

To confirm the planned-for Calabogie Vintage race, a minimum of 25 competitors must register for the event by Friday, June 25.  Vintage entry will be capped at 35.  If Vintage class competitors are 2021 VRRA Members, a separate CSBK/Pro 6 GP Race Series membership is not required. Vintage Races will be run with traditional period groupings in a dedicated Vintage race, with timed Qualifying.  

Second and third “bump” class entry opportunities are available with the Pro 6 GP Race Series established Middleweight and Heavyweight Challenge categories.  Spec tires are not required for these classes, and scoring transponders will be available to rent through Pro 6 GP. 

Middleweight Criteria

Up to 1200 cc 4-stroke twin cylinder, air cooled any year

125 GP any year, 250 GP air cooled – 1990 and older

Up to 600 cc 4-stroke multi cylinder, any year

Up to 650 cc 4-stroke, liquid cooled twins

Unlimited multi cylinder, two stroke, air cooled Most vintage era bikes (check with officials)

Heavyweight Criteria

600 cc and over 4-stroke multi-cylinder

250 Grand Prix – all years

651 cc and over 4-stroke

twin cylinder, liquid-cooled

Unlimited twin cylinder air cooled, any year

July 9 - 11 Event Structure:

Friday, July 9 is a Pro 6 track day, not an official practice day prior to the event. Daytime spots are still available for $290+HST, rotating three groups per hour, 20 minutes per session. There is also an evening opportunity for $165+HST, from 4pm until 7pm, split into two groups (Pro and Am) and running 4 rotations of 20 minutes each. The event Schedule for Saturday, July 10 offers morning Vintage practice for 15 minutes. Middleweight and Heavyweight practice sessions are also 15 minutes each. Saturday afternoon Vintage, Middleweight and Heavyweight have 15-minute Qualifying sessions. This timed Qualifying session will establish a grid, separated by class.

Sunday morning, July 11, provides a 15-minute Vintage practice, along with a separate Middleweight and Heavyweight Practice.  The 8-lap vintage race will be just before lunch, with Trophies awarded to the top three in each category. Sunday afternoon will include the Middleweight and Heavyweight finals. 

Entry fees are a comparable to typical VRRA Race fees at $250 for first class, including two gate passes, and $150 for a second class. Third class is $50 for anyone with eligible equipment. Additional gate passes are $50 each. 

Pro 6 GP racing rules and procedures will apply to official Tech Inspection and track activity, with equipment rules as provided in the current VRRA rulebook.  VRRA Championship points will not be awarded.
