The history books will have one primary name on it when discussing the first ever Bagger race north of the US border, as Sam Guerin completed the perfect weekend in the Bagger Racing League event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, presented by the Fallen Riders Support Team and Pace Law.
The weekend – which was supported by DP Brakes, Hog Tunes, and Drag Specialties – was dominated by home favourite Guerin, who had already taken pole position and a comfortable race one victory for Original Garage Harley-Davidson.
He faced stiffer competition the second time around, as Cody Gilmore managed to put early pressure on his Canadian counterpart in the opening three laps, but Guerin would inevitably find the pace he needed to escape with a second consecutive win and the championship belt for the weekend.
“Bagger racing is so much fun, I really hope this is just the start of things in Canada and we can continue this event in the future,” Guerin said. “It’s so awesome to see the new fans and support, it’s really special.”
Gilmore would again finish second ahead of his Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson teammate Michael “Arnie” Wells in a repeat of Saturday’s podium, though the field made up plenty of ground on Guerin by day three after entering the event with little-to-no experience at CTMP.
Australia’s Jake Masters would finish fourth for Suburban Motors HD ahead of Craig Braymiller, who rounded out the top five for A+ Performance Cycle Harley-Davidson.
Shawn Hoffman would wind up just 0.432 seconds behind Braymiller at the line in the closest on-track action of the class, with Carl Schlact taking eighth for Speed Farm Harley-Davidson.
Jesse Janisch was the lone DNF, suffering an unfortunate mechanical failure on lap three.
The Bagger Racing League will now return to normal action in November at historic Willow Springs International Raceway, with the hope of future action north of the border after a successful debut at CTMP.
