Team News: Leon Announces 2021 Racing Plans

It is with great pride that the Royal Distributing Superbike Team announces plans to compete in the 2021 Canadian Superbike Championship and the new regional Pro 6 GP Championship with veteran rider Michael Leon.

Kyle Blakely of Windmill Motorsports and Machine will return as crew chief, with Jaret Whiteside continuing his role as trackside crew.

BMW Motorrad Canada has stepped up support and will be providing additional kit parts to the team to increase the already potent performance of the S1000RR. The team will field the same 2020 BMW S1000RR Superbike that they used to set the fastest laps during both CSBK Pro Superbike races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park last August.

“We are keeping the band together for another year!  It will be amazing to return to a full schedule for 2021. With all 10 rounds being televised on TSN, the coverage provides great exposure for the sport and all our sponsors.  The series is bouncing back from perhaps the most difficult season to a year with the most television coverage ever for CSBK.  I want to congratulate the CSBK staff for sticking with it and making this happen.  I am thrilled to continue to represent Royal in 2021.  We are beginning 14 years together.  These long sponsor / team relationships don’t happen very often in Motorsports, so it’s special and I’m very proud.  There are some fast guys who took last year off coming back this year, and some new talent coming along too.  I can’t wait to line up on race day!”  commented Michael.

The team will also compete in all rounds of the new regional Pro 6 GP, with Michael’s sights set on the Pro Superbike Championship. The prospect of a full season of regional racing at Calabogie Motorsports Park, perhaps Canada’s best motorcycle circuit, has caused quite a stir with many riders looking forward to the inaugural year of the new series.

The Royal Distributing Team will be announcing additional sponsors in the coming weeks.  Although it is unclear at this time whether fans will be permitted, the team looks forward to seeing all the series regulars (and hopefully a lot of fans) at round 1 at Calabogie on June 4th.
