Motorcycle racing—or any kind of racing—has a way of monopolizing summer weekends. If you’re not at the track, you’re testing or working on the bike or fixing the hitch on the hauler or training to stay in top condition. It never ends. This is why the annual trek to Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, for this weekend’s CSBK races is a relationship saver—with most of the grid forced to trek halfway across the country, it’s what every racer’s family could use but would never make the time for: a mid-summer road trip. Indeed, Trevor says he loves the drive (ok, maybe not the slog on Ontario’s 401 highway), especially once you get east of Quebec. But his motivation for this weekend isn’t just to even out his farmer’s tan: with a double-header of racing, points aplenty are up for grabs.
With seven (of 11) races remaining, the season is really only nicely getting under way, and AMP, in the past, has been successful hunting grounds for Trevor. Last season Trevor drove home with second and third place trophies, a feat he’s anxious to repeat as he’s only a single point out of third place in this season’s standings.
The season, to date, by Trevor’s admission, has been uneven. But last round at Ontario’s Grand Bend saw the team right the ship and find the settings that’s allowed Trevor to cozy up to his mighty GSX-R. Additionally, crew chief Scott Cameron will be back this weekend after a one race absence and MotoSPEC’s Jeff Laidman is also travelling east to support his customers, including Trevor.
As for Trevor himself, he’s feeling fine, rested, and supremely motivated to bring home the lobster this weekend. In addition to his bustling custom and fabrication shop, Trevor has also gained valuable track time by instructing at the Fast Riding School.
And even though racing—at least the on-track aspect—is a solitary pursuit, racing without fans would cease to exist. If you make it to AMP this weekend, please come around and say hello to Trevor and the crew. They’d love to hear from you. And follow along via Trevor’s Instagram @onespeedinc.
