Round 6 of the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship and the Economy Lube Pro Sport Bike Championship took us to the old faithful, Shannonville Motorsport Park.
Having raced at Shannonville last year on our Suzuki GSX-R750, we had, for the first time this year, an actual data file on set up. Even though this year's pace is faster than last year, having a base set up helps tremendously, saving time for the team and getting Sebastien a bike that he can feel comfortable with right away. Again Seb delivered in the qualification with his first Pole Position of the year.
Saturday was the Economy Lube Pro Sport Bike Race 1 in the wet. You guessed it, we had very little set up time with the B bike and even less in the rain. So Seb had to start the race on a bike that he had limited time on. After a dreadful start, he composed himself and started to pass riders and work his way towards the front. Getting up to fourth until a last turn aggressive pass relegated him to fifth. Not the finish we hoped for but with the level of competition we are facing, nothing to be ashamed of.
Sunday Race 2 was in a dry and what a race it was. The 3 rider lead group finishing extremely close! Unfortunately the rider who crossed the line in first had a 5 seconds penalty for a Jump start which means Sebastien was the official winner. Race win number 5 out of the 12 races this year.
Another surprise was waiting for us at the podium. The team was awarded the prestigious team of the year award.
Here is a little bit more about that team!
Jeremy Lazure: Commonly referred to as Jay. Jay is in his early 20s and has been working at S.T. Motosport, Seb's own shop, for less than 2 years as a recent graduate of a local powersport school. Under Seb tutelage, we have seen Jay grow and expand his skills at an amazing pace. From rebuilding suspension, to motor refresh, and all the assembly and disassembly needed when racing, Jay does it all. Truly a kid with a great future in motorsport.
Alain Lazure: Jay's dad who works building business jets during the day, made himself available to support Seb and his son's passion. A F1 fan and a tifosi, Alain is a mechanic that brings aerospace qualities to the team: strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Andre Tremblay: Seb’s dad. A man of few words. Always there for emotional support and manning the essential pit board. He operates in the shadows but his help is no less essential.
Sebastien Tremblay: The racer and the crew chief. Seb does it all. Rides beautifully and builds competitive bikes in his small shop in St-Eustache, Quebec, S.T. Motosport.
Sebastien also wants to thank Roksana, Denis, Serge and all the others that have supported him this year! Can't wait to see what next year will bring!
This amazing season would not have been possible without the much appreciated help of our sponsors:
Suzuki Canada, Bridgestone, CSBK, Turcotte Performance, Bickle Racing, Hindle, Ohlins, ST Motosport, Euromoto
Team Shaker.
