Daley reports from flat track

The past two weekends Trevor Daley tried his hand at flat track racing on the Paris and Burford half mile dirt ovals in the first two rounds of the Flat Track Canada racing series on the Parts Canada - Onespeedchopshop.com CRF450R.

Flat track being something Trevor had never tired before, jumping into the intermediate DTX and open classes was potentially ambitious. "I felt that this was a situation where much like my CSBK Mopar Superbike career, where riding with stronger competition, would result in a faster learning curve for myself."

Trevor walked away from round one in Paris with a first and second place finish in his heats, a fourth place finish in the Open main and rallied to a 7th after a crash in the DTX main event. Trevor had a great time racing and meeting the fans and other racers in the pit as they came and got refreshed with a Rockstar and stickers courtesy of Rockstar Energy Canada.

Round two managed to produce more excitement and great racing. Trevor adapted to the Burford track very quickly and started the day with an added boost of confidence and power as his bike was outfitted with an exhaust system from Yoshimura and Parts Canada.

Scoring a second place in the DTX heat was a great start and in the Open heat, Trevor battled with Braden Vallee, 2014 flat track Canada class champion, passing each other five times in the opening two laps before a crash climaxed the excitement as Trevor attempted a very ambition pass.

The main events were even more exciting as Trevor scored a third place in the DTX main and road from last to third twice as there was a re-start after just 3 laps due to an accident involving multiple riders. Trevor claimed his second podium of the day in only his second even and left Burford excited to get focused as he will test the Parts Canada Suzuki Yoshimura GSX-R1000 in two weeks.

Trevor will be attending the Pro6cycle track days taking place at Calabogie, uniting with tuner Gary Medley in preparation for the opening round of the Mopar CSBK Pro Superbike race season the following weekend.

Thanks to the fans who came out to watch and everyone making 2015 possible and a great year.
