PRO CHAMP CASAS TO MENTOR YAMAHA RIDERS IN NEW LIGHTWEIGHT CLASS

Defending Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike champion and Yamaha bLU cRU ambassador Tomas Casas will serve as a mentor for Yamaha riders competing in the new Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike class, part of the national Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship, during all rounds of the 2018 series.

Casas, age 19, represented Canada at Valentino Rossi’s Yamaha VR46 Master Camp last spring before winning the 2017 CSBK Pro Sport Bike championship on his Peterborough Cycle/Parts Canada Yamaha YZF-R6. The Peterborough, ON racer made the podium at every round in 2017 and is poised to defend his title in 2018.

To support Yamaha riders in the new Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike class, Casas and Yamaha Motor Canada will host information sessions exclusively for R3 riders during each national race weekend. Casas will discuss race lines, body position, braking points, track etiquette, and offer personal insight and tips that young bLU cRU riders can put to use on the track.

“I’m excited to help the next generation of bLU cRU racers as they start their careers in road racing,” said Casas, who came up through the Canadian 125 and 250 cc production ranks. “Going racing at this level can be intimidating, and there are a lot of learning curves in the beginning stages, so I’m happy to lend advice and answer questions to all the Yamaha riders in the Lightweight class. It’s going to be a fun year.”

Information sessions will be held in the Casas Racing pit area at each track on the 2018 national tour. Times will be announced during the race weekend over the PA system.
