Newly crowned MOPAR Canadian National overall Superbike Champion Jodi Christie is scheduled to make his oval dirt track debut at the tiny track at Paris Speedway tonight. Fresh off his dominant performances at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park‘s final MOPAR CSBK National last Sunday, Christie is planning to ride a Honda CRF450 motocross-based entry provided by Flat track Canada boss Aaron Hesmer.
Christie typically road races on Honda Canada supplied CBR600RR and CBR1000RR machinery backed by Accelerated Technologies, Dunlop, Blue Streak, Shoei, Joe Rocket and Motovan.
No confirmation is available regarding 22-year-old Christie’s possible second entry in the infamous small displacement Mad Dog class, a highlight of each Paris event. With extensive dirt bike experience in motocross, Christie hopes to make a smooth transition into oval action.
The Paris event could still be a tough debut for the pavement Champ, since the schedule is famously fast moving. Paris is also known for its family atmosphere, offering classes for a wide variety of people and machines, starting with kids in 50cc categories for both chain drive and shaft drive motorcycles.
If all goes well for Christie at the regular Friday night Paris Regional Series event, he will move on to London, Ontario for the Saturday’s Flat Track National Half-Mile. This event is slated for the Western Fair District grounds, with the program officially starting at 7 PM, Saturday, August 23.
