A loaded GP Bikes Pro Superbike field will add two more capable names to the grid at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, as Sebastian Hothaza and Zoltan Frast will make their feature class debuts in round five for Team Ride42.
The two have been linked throughout their Bridgestone CSBK careers, having each won amateur national races in 2022 before turning pro together in 2023 and continuing in the Economy Lube Pro Sport Bike ranks through this season.
Both have proven to be extremely competitive in the middleweight ranks, sitting first (Frast) and second (Hothaza) in the SOAR regional Pro 600 standings while Frast claimed a pair of national podiums and Hothaza earned a career-best sixth in CSBK round two.
Now, the duo will take the next step into the Superbike class with title support from Ride42, a trackday organization catering to new and developing riders where both Hothaza and Frast coach at Grand Bend Motorplex.
Both will continue with their familiar brand of machine, as Hothaza steps up from the Yamaha YZF-R6 to the larger YZF-R1, while Frast graduates from the Kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja to the bigger ZX-10R.
While majority of Frast’s success has come in the Sport Bike ranks, Hothaza will hope to replicate his success from 2022, when he captured the SOAR Amateur Superbike championship before turning pro.
Hothaza’s effort will retain personal support from Eurorace Canada, KYT Canada, and PLUS Racing Gear, while Frast will maintain his personal sponsors of Clare’s Cycle and Sports, Eurorace Canada, KYT Canada, Sib’s Powersports Machine, NFD Autobody, Trackside Cuts Leather & Vinyl, PLUS Racing Gear, Primerica, Vesrah, and Vortex.
The graduation to the feature class will also have huge implications on the Constructors Championship, where Hothaza will bring a massive boost to Yamaha as they try to climb the order from fifth. As for Frast, he will be just the latest star to support current runners-up Kawasaki, as they aim to hunt down the standings lead in the penultimate round.
The weekend will kick off at CTMP (just an hour east of Toronto) on Friday, August 9, before the doubleheader races get underway August 10-11.
