Round 4 of the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship and the Economy Lube Pro Sport Bike Championship took us all the way to Shubenacadie to the much loved Atlantic Motorsport Park.
This track is so challenging that some people say to just forget trying to find the perfect setup and just ride the bike. The team chose to do the opposite. That proved to be a challenge and we made big changes before qualifying that cost us a place on the front row. But it did give us the insight we needed to make our Suzuki GSX-R750 perform the way we wanted in the race.
Race 1 was a difficult race, stuck in a group of fast and competitive racers. When Seb emerged from the pack, the eventual winner was already gone. Second place it is then! Nothing wrong with that.
For Race 2, thanks to a few more changes on the Ohlins suspension, Sebastien’s confidence was sky high. The race was a barn burner, a better start than yesterday had Seb dicing for position and got to second place with what looked like an insurmountable gap to first place with only a handful of laps left. Sebastien's never quit attitude had him doing very respectable lap times late in the race to edge out the third victory of the season. As the famous French General Ferdinand Foch said: One is defeated only when one accepts defeat.
Watch it when it airs on TSN, it will be worth your time!
All in all, a fantastic weekend that puts the team where we wanted to be ahead of the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park round 5. A venue that cannot be any more different than AMP but similarly interesting.
See you at the track!
