CSBK Series News and Press Releases

The third round of the 2022 CSBK season was as unique as any in the Pro Superbike class’s history, with plenty of wild stats and storylines emerging from the return to the east coast at Atlantic Motorsport Park.

Below are just a few of the key numbers from a wild weekend in Shubenacadie.

The gap between championship rivals Alex Dumas and Ben Young at the end of qualifying on Friday. The two made history by setting identical lap times in the Superpole session, ultimately sharing the first ever tie for pole position – though Young would wind up with the top grid slot after a coin toss on Saturday morning.

70 career Superbike races

The milestone Michael Leon celebrated in race two on Sunday. It wasn’t the celebration Leon had in mind as he crashed out on lap one, but the BMW veteran picked up an emotional podium on Saturday and continued to etch his name into CSBK history by becoming only the second active rider to hit the 70-race mark, highlighting a career that has made him a popular figure in the paddock for over 20 years.

13 consecutive podiums

The active streak Ben Young will carry into the final round at CTMP, which is already the third-longest run of all-time. The BMW rider has found the top-three in every race since the start of 2021, and two more podiums in AMP moved him past Kenny Riedmann for sole possession of third on the historic list. Notably, Alex Dumas also entered on an eleven-race podium streak, but will remain tied with Riedmann after a race one crash.

4 first-time winners

The number of new winners in the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike class this season. The first three races of the year saw Trevor Dion, David MacKay, and Elliot Vieira all capture their first national victories, only the second time ever that the first three races brought three first-time winners. Jake LeClair added his name to the list in race one on Saturday, capturing his debut victory with a shocking performance at AMP.

7 podiums in 7 races

The streak Trevor Dion will look to maintain in the Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike class. The championship leader somehow kept his 100% podium run alive despite a race one crash in AMP, recovering to finish third. In fact, Dion has only missed the podium once in his entire Pro career – a fifth-place finish in Superbike race two at Grand Bend.

3 Lap Records

The number of track bests John Fraser set in the Amateur ranks this weekend. Finally getting to showcase himself at his home track, the 16-year-old Fraser first broke the qualifying record in the AIM Insurance Amateur Superbike class, then added a new race record on Saturday afternoon. Just for good measure, Fraser one-upped his own race record on Sunday, part of a spectacular weekend with four wins in four Amateur events.

8 points across 3 riders

The gap atop the Super Sonic Race School Lightweight class. Former championship leader Evan Moriarity elected not to participate in round three, and his absence has opened up a wild three-way battle for the junior crown. Bryce DeBoer now leads Vincent Wilson by seven points heading to CTMP, with Moriarity just one more point back in third.
