The 2026 Canadian National MotoMini Series launches at Shannonville Motorsport Park as Part of round two of the RACE Moto Regional series at Shannonville Motorsport Park’s Go Kart track June 19-20. For the first time, the Canadian tour will be qualifying young racers to compete in two distinct categories at the Valencia World finals at the end of November in Spain: the 160 class, and the new (for Canada) 190 division.
The 190 category offers larger displacement spec single cylinder, air-cooled four-stroke Ohvale machinery with 12-inch wheels for the spec tires, and a bigger age range: the 160 category is for racers from 10 to 14, while the 190 division accommodates competitors from 12 to 16 years.
In 2026, each national round will include practice on the opening day with qualifying and two races per class on the second day. After the S.M.P. opener, the series moves to home ground at the Lombardy Circuit’s round two, north of Kingston, ON., July 3-4, then round three back at S.M.P. July 23-24; round four on September 4-5 back at Lombardy and then the final event at Shannonville as part of their 50th Anniversary of Nelson International Raceway celebration, September 25-26.
Backing for the National Mini Championships comes from the Super Sonic Road Race School, KYT Helmets, AIM Insurance, DP Brakes, Bickle Racing, Lean Angle and REV television.
The final points standings for the two Ohvale categories, as sanctioned by the CMA (Canadian Motorcycle Association) and the world body FIM (Federation Internationale de Motorclisme), will then yield the top racers invited to represent Canada in Valencia, Spain, November 26, The World MotoMini event is held in conjunction with the final MotoGP event of the “big bike” World Championships.
Canadians have attended this event for the past three seasons, managed by Team Captain Toni Sharpless, a former World Endurance racer and Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame member (class of 2012). Last year’s 160 Champ was Ontario’s Jager Stockill, making his second visit to Spain to represent his country, joined by Alberta’s Ethan Reardon, the first Canuck to race in the final events of the Championship.
This season, the favourite in the 160 division is British Columbia’s Martina Cardenas, age 11. Cardenas finished third in the 2025 Championships, just missing on the invitation to Europe. Here top competitors in the smaller division have all moved up to the 190 category, starting with Stockill, now age 13.
Cardenas’ arch-rival from last season, Stefan Tanasic, has also switched to the bigger 190s, and is returning from a shoulder injury suffered at the Shannonville RACE Moto Regional opener at the start of May. Also “bumping” up a class are former fast 160 competitors Mateen O’Brien and Eric Sergi.
As well as MotoMini National events, Shannonville’s races this weekend will include races for 1000cc Superbikes, with Eli Daccache leading the regional series on his pace setting, Milwaukee Yamaha YZF-R1.
