The Super Sonic Road Race School opened their season at Brechin, ON Saturday, just east of Orillia.  In steadily improving conditions, two endurance events were staged, both backed by new shop 88Moto.

Saturday’s second race, Endurance Two, included the more experienced competitors.  After a classic endurance cross-track run for a Le Mans start, MiniGP ace Jager Stockhill held the tail of Jake Leclair’s Ohvale racer, the CSBK veteran and former Yamaha factory pilot quickly sprinting into a clear lead for his “Bomb Squad” team.

Second in the early going was the bright orange HB YCF of 88Moto, with Ben Hodgson at the controls as well as others including Charlie Piackawski.

The Giga Racing Ohvale effort of siblings Alessandro and Gabriella Giganti had a slow start but were soon up to third with Alessandro on board.  The Giga squad typically contests the National Ohvale Series at MotoAmerica rounds.

Fourth on the road was the Tenergi squad of Stefan Temur and Eric Sergi.

By the end, “Bomb Squad” had set the fastest lap with a tour at 42.608 on their way to 236 laps in three hours. 88Moto earned runner-up honors with 224 tours, Giga completing the podium at 215 laps.

Earlier in the day, the less experienced competitors took part in the E1 two-hour race, with the slow-starter O.M.R.C. entry of Honda Monkey pilot Sean Whitlock and YCF mounted Ted Mata working their way to the win with 136 laps.  Their best lap was a 47.522 set by the pretty Honda single street-based machine.

Competitors were allowed to swap transmitters between bikes, although some shared the same machine for the duration of the event - stops were required for refueling, too.

Second overall, turning 120 laps, was the “Slipping Clutch” team that included Taso Hatzianastasiou and Zayd Sahaf.  The newly formed Farm Boys team made it to third 117 laps aboard a Yamaha, Josh Millson and Brad Pronk (117 laps) sharing riding duties.

The O’Brien team of Mateen O’Brien and William Brown were also new to competition and netted fourth in the E1 opener.

Next race for all the categories on the MiniGP tour is in conjunction with RACE Moto at Shannonville Motorsport Park next weekend, May 9-11.
