Two-time Bridgestone CSBK Pro Supersport champion Tomas Casas will be returning to the class once again next weekend at his home track, joining the FAST Riding School Suzuki team for the 2025 finale at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Casas’ return to the middleweight class will come with new machinery thanks to the title support of the FAST Riding School and owner Martin Hamel, as he departs Yamaha after eleven years to pilot a Suzuki GSX-R750.
It’s somewhat of a homecoming for Casas, who made his “big-bike” debut on a Suzuki GSX-R600 over a decade ago with the help of former racer Vanessa Dominguez, before joining Yamaha for his Amateur Sport Bike (now Supersport) title run in 2014.
While most of Casas’ team behind the scenes will remain the same, the invaluable support of the FAST Riding School will help smooth the transition to the new machine, which has dominated the “next-gen” era with 12 consecutive victories and 16 out of 21 overall since it was homologated in 2023.
Tomas hopes this is only the beginning of his relationship with Suzuki – which has already generously offered some support for CTMP – as he eyes a full comeback next season and a third career Pro Supersport championship.
“I can’t thank Martin Hamel and the FAST Riding School enough for this opportunity. I’m really excited to be riding a Suzuki in Supersport, it’s such a full circle moment,” Casas said. “It’s the most competitive package on the grid, so I’m really excited to race it at CTMP and work towards a third title in 2026.”
While he has not raced yet in 2025, Tomas has continued to ride and maintain his fitness at a high level as he teaches at both the FAST Riding School and with the FIM MiniGP Canada series, hopefully avoiding any physical setbacks next weekend.
A three-time podium finisher in the feature GP Bikes Pro Superbike class, Casas briefly returned to the Supersport ranks at CTMP last season with the help of fellow rider Brad Macrae before a big crash cut his weekend short.
One of the youngest pro champions in CSBK history, Casas racked up ten victories, 25 podiums, and five pole positions between 2015-2019, capturing the #1 plate after the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
His return will come at the perfect venue as well, as “Old Mosport” is both his home circuit (just a half-hour from Peterborough, Ontario) and one of his most successful, having finished on the podium in his last eight consecutive Supersport races at CTMP.
Tomas’ home round will also be supported once again by Taso’s Restaurant and Pizzeria in Peterborough, fellow partner 88 Moto, and continued sponsors of his who join with the FAST Riding School to help make this return possible.
The weekend will officially get underway on Friday, August 8 at historic Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, before race one on Saturday and the final race of the season on Sunday for each national class.
Casas would like to thank the FAST Riding School crew, Suzuki Canada, Taso’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, 88Moto, Hindle Exhaust, Cartier Racing, Damian Pereira Photography, GBRacing, Bickle Racing, Flexiglass, DP Brakes, Motul, Brooklin Cycle Racing, Human 2.0, Forsaken Motorsports, and all his friends and family who have been with him along the way.
